Material Tailored To Individual Students

Whether a student aims to learn Mandarin to access the growing Chinese fine arts community, its booming manufacturing sector or to learn about Chinese medical practices, the language material that is specifically relevant for these fields, and any other, is produced on an individual basis by The Academy's faculty.

The program is augmented by personal content in this way in order to move away from memorization of content that has little relevance to each student.

Instead students target speaking and understanding - the two most important components of sustainable and rapid language acquisition. Furthermore, by targeting individual goals, the program allows individuals to reach the objective of their Mandarin studies at pace a general curriculum can never hope to match.

Real Life Results

As soon as a Mandarin language student knows the vocabulary that matter for their work and their hobbies they can start using Mandarin in natural conversation in these settings.

Relevance is key to learning a language. The more meaning the material has students as individuals, the more solid the foundation that the new syntax and vocabulary is built upon. With tailor-made content, customized to each person, language students reach a point where they can communicate at an increasingly advanced level sooner.

Furthermore, because practice and fundamental understanding is intrinsically emphasized by personal content, students retain the knowledge gained from their Mandarin studies in the long term, at a level that is also not possible without individualized material.

It is this separation of general and personal content, combined with small class sizes, which holds the key to effective and intensive Mandarin language studies.

With average class sizes of only three students per teacher and a maximum of six, progress is rapid, targeted and very impressive.
